President: ASEAN takes Transition and Adjustment

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono held a press conference for 30 minutes after the end of the ASEAN Summit in Hua Hin and Cha-am, Thailand, Sunday (1 / 3).

According to the President, the essence of the summit this time was to conduct a regional synergy and how to minimize the impact of the economic crisis. The second related to the future of ASEAN after adopting a new charter to the ASEAN community like the European Union in 2015.

Related to that there are some things delivered. The first related to the ASEAN Charter, ASEAN is expected to be more structured and effective. "Of course the transition and adjustment is needed is fundamental and klutural," said the President.

However, the President convinced the ASEAN will be more effective. Because the signs in that direction is clearly visible. Among them are indicated by the development of cooperation. "Once only intergovernmental cooperation. But now and duniausaha intergovernmental, private sector and civil society, according to the concept of realizing the ASEAN as the European Union," he said, hastily reminding terms of culture, history, ASEAN is different from the European Union.

The President stressed the importance of the transition and adjustment to the ASEAN Charter is not actually break the unity of the state in Southeast Asia. He reminded the spirit of the founders of ASEAN is to create a peaceful area, stable, prosperous and beneficial for all ASEAN countries.

If the ASEAN Charter is implemented, the President was sure all members of ASEAN will be stronger in the economic field through the synergy that increases the competitiveness of the region in the eyes of other countries.
